Having had a good long think about this, I have decided to go for a fresh approach. I'm inviting all members of the old Halmatic 880 website to contribute their photos and stories on this blog.

ReplyDeleteHello "Chalky" I don't know if you can assist, I am going to look at a 880 for sale locally but the owner seems to know very little about them! My main concern is the boat is missing its windscreen/sprayhood and I wonder if there is a reason for this, & whether it is something that can be replaced easily. Any other advice you can offer a prospective owner i would much appreciate. Thanks, Neil.

ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased to have tracked Chalky down again - I thought I had lost her for ever.
Chalky was my baby from 1990 until 1998 and I loved her dearly.
I kept her initially in Weymouth then on the River Dart - where I still keep my current boat. In fact I'm still known as Chalky by the staff at Darthaven Marina! She had a light blue hull then and very little instrumentation, but I did love and cherish her and even polished that wonderful old Perkins 4-108 regularly.
I can see she is still loved by your excellent photographs - she looks magnificent.
